Although the word ‘University’ is in the title, the University of the Third Age is more like a coming together of minds and friends with something in common; a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning. The U3A brings together mature aged students so they can learn from one another.
A volunteer coordinator facilitates the process but everyone contributes according to knowledge and experience. There’s no homework, no exams, no degrees or diplomas - just a lot of fun with mature-aged people who are keen to keep themselves mentally active.
The University of the Third Age is a worldwide movement. Each U3A is autonomous but able to enjoy the benefit of being part of a large, loose-knit association.
Albury Wodonga Community College is affiliated with U3A Albury Wodonga.
Classes are mostly held at Albury Wodonga Community College, with some classes also meeting at the Commercial Club, Albury Library Museum or Trinity Uniting Church.
Courses range from gardening to games, philosophy, investment, book study, the environment, current affairs and everything in between.
Classes run weekly, fortnightly or monthly, during school terms.
New members are always welcome, and a free trial session is offered.
