The Community College offers two Active Ageing programs.
Although the word ‘University’ is in the title, the University of the Third Age is more like a coming together of minds and friends with something in common; a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning. The U3A brings together mature aged students so they can learn from one another.
Creative Learners classes include: drawing, painting, embroidery, lead lighting, strength training, card making, patchwork and mosaics.
Albury Wodonga Community College is affiliated with U3A Albury Wodonga.
The University of the Third Age is a worldwide movement. Each U3A is autonomous but able to enjoy the benefit of being part of a large, loose-knit association.
A volunteer coordinator facilitates the process but everyone contributes according to knowledge and experience. There’s no homework, no exams, no degrees or diplomas - just a lot of fun with mature-aged people who are keen to keep themselves mentally active.
Classes are mostly held at Albury Wodonga Community College, with some classes also meeting at the Commercial Club, Albury Library Museum or Trinity Uniting Church.
Courses range from gardening to games, philosophy, investment, book study, the environment, current affairs and everything in between.
Classes run weekly, fortnightly or monthly, during school terms.
New members are always welcome, and a free trial session is offered.
Classes include: craft, patchwork, painting, drawing, strength training, embroidery, lead lighting and card making.
Annual Membership is $50 single ($75 double).
This entitles you to access any course on offer by the Creative Learners . The cost of the courses will vary. You may also undertake any course offered by U3A but must undertake Creative Learners course first.
Enrolments can be made in person at the Albury Wodonga Community College reception (63 High Street, Wodonga). Membership must be paid in full when enrolling, which is payable once per year.
